Takeoff (climb)

The single engine airplane departed Buochs Airport on December 12 on a delivery flight to its new owner, Smart Cakrawala Aviation based in Indonesia. The crew made a stop in Maribor and Podgorica then continued to Heraklion. On December 15, shortly after takeoff from Heraklion-Nikos Kazantzakis Airport runway 09, en route to Hurghada, the airplane climbed to an altitude of 1,400 feet when the pilot reported problems and declared an emergency. After completing a right turn to return to the airport, the airplane lost height and speed then stalled and crashed into the sea off Karteros. The pilot aged 26 was slightly injured while the passenger, an Indonesian citizen aged 68, died shortly later. The airplane floated for a while then sank. Named 'Franz', the airplane was the last PC-6 built by the Swiss manufacturer.

The twin engine airplane was chartered by the Grupo San Germán Express to carry a team of six people from Medellín to Pizarro, Chocó. Shortly after takeoff from runway 02 at Medellín-Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport, while in initial climb, the crew encountered engine problems. The airplane went out of control and crashed onto a house located in the district of Belén Rosales, less than 500 metres from the runway end, bursting into flames. The house and the aircraft were destroyed and all 8 occupants were killed.

The airplane was on a schedule service (flight LA2213) from Lima to Juliaca. On board were 102 passengers and a crew of six. During the takeoff roll on runway 16, at a speed of 127 knots, the aircraft collided with a fire truck that entered the active runway from the right, at taxiway B. A team of two heavy fire trucks and one light support vehicle were engaged in a 'Response Time' exercice that started at 1510LT, one minute prior to the accident. The first fire truck entered the active runway while the airplane was accelerating for takeoff. Upon impact, the right main gear and the right engine were torn off. The airplane caught fire and slid for about 1,600 metres then veered to the right and came to rest, bursting into flames. Forty passengers were injured, among them four seriously. The airplane was heavily damaged by fire. Among the personnel in the fire truck, two were killed and a third was seriously injured.

During the takeoff roll from runway 31 at El Estrecho Airport, the crew encountered an unexpected situation and rejected takeoff. Unable to stop within the remaining distance, the aircraft overran, crossed a road and crashed against a wooded embankment. The right wing was partially sheared off and the undercarriage were torn off. All 17 occupants were injured, five seriously. One passenger died from injuries sustained.

After takeoff from runway 35 at Saltillo-Plan de Guadalupe Airport, while climbing to an altitude of 800 feet, the crew encountered technical issues with the right engine that lost power and started to vibrate. The crew reduced his altitude and attempted an emergency landing when the aircraft crashed in bushes about 4,5 km northwest of the airport and came to rest. Both pilots were uninjured and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

After takeoff from Porto Trombetas Airport, the pilot encountered engine problems and attempted an emergency landing. The airplane crashed in a wooded area and was destroyed. The pilot was killed and all four passengers were injured. They were en route to Ayaramã to provide dental assistance to locals. On board were one dentist, one assistant, one nurse and one employee of the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics.

Crashed shortly after liftoff from Johannesburg-Rand Airport. All five passengers were killed and the pilot was injured.

The twin engine airplane was engaged in a local training flight at South Haven Airport, carrying two pilots. After takeoff from runway 05, while climbing, the aircraft went out of control and crashed in a wooded area located a mile north of the airfield. The aircraft was destroyed and both occupants were killed.

The pilot reported that, he was departing in the float-equipped airplane in strong gusty wind conditions. After accelerating on the water for about 3 seconds, the airplane suddenly became airborne and crabbed into the wind about 60° to 90° from the intended takeoff path and started to climb as it continued to track away from the intended flight path. As the climb continued, the airplane stalled and impacted the water in a nose low attitude which resulted in substantial damage to the wings and fuselage. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

Shortly after takeoff from Santiago de Querétaro Airport, while climbing, the twin engine airplane went out of control and crashed inverted in a maize field located near the airport. The aircraft was destroyed and both occupants were killed.
