The airplane departed RAF Hemswell at 1813LT on an operation to Hamburg. Approaching the Dutch coast, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed into the sea some 5 km off Vlieland Island. All six crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Harwell on a night navigation exercise. In the early morning, while trying to land at RAF Hemswell, the pilot leveled off too early and the undercarriage collapsed following a hard landing. The airplane slid for few dozen metres and came to a halt, bursting into flames. All five crew members escaped uninjured and the airplane was destroyed by a post crash fire.

The airplane departed RAF Hemswell at 1704LT on December 6 on an operation to Mannheim. While returning to base the following night, it ran out of fuel and was abandoned by the crew. The airplane crashed near RAF Bolt Head and was destroyed. Three crew parachuted to safety and three others were carried out to the sea due to a stiff off shore breeze and drowned.
