Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Hemswell on December 6 on an operation to Mannheim. While returning to base the following night and flying along the French coast, it was hit by the German Flak. Later, the crew ditched the airplane into the sea off Littlehampton. Two crew members were killed and three others were rescued.
