The airplane departed RAF Hemswell at 1620LT on an operation to Saint-Nazaire. It failed to return to base and is believed to have crashed somewhere into the Bay of Biscay. Lost without trace.

Then airplane departed RAF Hemswell at 2100LT to lay mines off Brest. Passing over the Ile-de-Sein Island at an altitude of 700 feet, it was shot down by the German Marine Flak and was ditched into the sea off the island. All six crew members were rescued six hours later by a French fishing boat and later became PoW.
