Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Harwell at 2146LT on January 25 on a night navigation exercise. While flying at low altitude in limited visibility, the airplane apparently struck a hillside and caught fire, maybe after a fuel line or tank ruptured. Shortly later, it crashed nearby a farmhouse located 3 km east of the village of Llansilin, bursting into flames. All five crew members as well as two people in the farmhouse were killed. Two other people in the farmhouse were injured.

The crew was performing a night training flight at RAF Cranwell. On final approach, the crew decided to initiate a go around procedure when one of the engine failed. The airplane stalled and crashed, bursting into flames. All three crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed Gambut, Libya, in the evening of January 22, to lay mines off the Greek coast. Approaching Petalioi Islands at night, it was shot down by enemy fire (Flak). The pilot ditched the airplane east of Stouronisi Island. All seven occupants survived but only one was able to swim to shore and became PoW. Two dead bodies were later found and four others crew were lost without trace.

While flying in clouds at night, the pilot ordered his crew to bail out when the airplane went out of control and crashed near Movil. Three crew parachuted to safety and two others were killed.
