Swinderby AFB

The airplane departed RAF Swinderby at 1627LT on an operation to Berlin. While returning to base in the late evening and flying along the Dutch coast, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the sea some 10 km off Vlieland Island. All seven crew members were killed.

While on a training exercise out from RAF Swinderby, the crew encountered severe icing conditions and the aircraft's performances were seriously reduced. The crew decided to abandon the airplane and bailed out. While all seven crew members parachuted to safety, the aircraft crashed in a field and was destroyed.

The airplane departed RAF Swinderby in the evening of December 11 on a maritime patrol flight. In unknown circumstances, it crashed into the North Sea off the Norwegian coast. Two crew members were killed and two others became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Syerston at 1747LT on December 9 on an operation to Torino. While returning to base the following night, it suffered an engine failure and crashed upon landing at RAF Swinderby. All seven crew members escaped unhurt.

While taxiing, the aircraft went out off control and collided with military equipment. All seven crew members escaped unhurt while the airplane was damaged beyond repair.

The airplane departed RAF Swinderby at 2302LT on an operation to Wismar. Over Denmark, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed into the sea some 1,5 km northeast of the Hyllekrog lighthouse. All seven crew members were killed.
