Then airplane departed RAF Hemswell at 2100LT to lay mines off Brest. Passing over the Ile-de-Sein Island at an altitude of 700 feet, it was shot down by the German Marine Flak and was ditched into the sea off the island. All six crew members were rescued six hours later by a French fishing boat and later became PoW.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF St Eval on a maritime patrol flight. Approaching Ile-de-Sein, it was shot down by the pilot of a German fighter and crashed into the sea. All three crew members were killed.
