Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Lakenheath at 2130LT on May 1st to plant mines in French coastal waters. It was badly damaged by the dual combination of German Flak and fighters and on return the crews' problems were heightened by lack of petrol and an unserviceable compass. Uncertain of their position, the Stirling was abandoned and left to crash at 0532LT at Windmill Hill, Havant. All seven crew members parachuted to safety, among them one was injured.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Chedburgh on February 17 to lay mines in the Gironde estuary. While returning to base, it ran low of fuel and was abandoned by the crew who parachuted to safety. Out of control, the airplane crashed 6 km north of Alton and was destroyed. The pilot was killed.

The crew consisting of two engineers and two pilots was performing a local test flight at Farnborough Airport. On final approach, one of the engine caught fire and the airplane became unstable. During the last segment, the airplane stalled and hit the runway surface and skidded for few dozen metres before coming to rest. All four crew members escaped with minor injuries and the airplane was damaged beyond repair.

Unable to maintain a safe approach speed, the pilot lost control of the airplane that stalled and crashed short of runway. A crew was killed and a second was injured.

The airplane departed RAF Lichfield at 1948LT on September 16 on an operation to Essen. It was hit by the German Flak over the target area which destroyed the port aileron. Despite severe handling problems and lack of airspeed, the crew regained the south coast before bailing out at 0320LT near Andover. All five crew members parachuted to safety while the airplane crashed and was destroyed.

The following night, while returning to England, it crash landed at RAF Middle Wallop with its undercarriage jammed. Shortly afterwards, some incendiaries fell from the aircraft, and in the ensuing fire, the Wellington was destroyed. There were no injuries.
