Holme-on-Spalding-Moor AFB

The airplane departed RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor on a mine laying operation. While returning to base, it was shot down by anti-aircraft fire and crashed in the evening at Grangetown, west of Redcar. All seven crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor on a mine laying operation in the Great Belt. It was shot down by the German Flak and crashed in an open field located in Novrup, east of Esbjerg. Three crew members were killed and four became PoW.

While on approach to RAF Carew Cheriton, the airplane went out of control and crashed in the Carmarthen Bay off Tenby. All seven crew members were killed.

The crew departed RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor on a night training exercise. Flying over Wales, the airplane suffered an in-flight explosion and crashed in hilly terrain near Llanerfyl. All seven crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Pocklington at 1824LT on October 23 on an operation to Genoa. While returning to base the following night, it diverted to RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. After landing, it ran into another Halifax from the Squadron, which had burst a tyre and was unable to clear the runway. All wight occupants escaped with various injuries.

The airplane departed RAF Pocklington at 1814LT on October 23 on an operation to Genoa. While returning to base the following night, it diverted to RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. After landing, a tyre burst and the airplane came to rest on the runway, bursting into flames. Two crew members were killed and two others were injured. The airplane was hit shortly later by another Halifax landing on the same runway.

The pilot was completing a solo training flight at RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. After touchdown, he lost control of the airplane that veered off runway and crashed into a ditch. The pilot escaped uninjured.

The airplane departed RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor at 0445LT on an operation to Cherbourg. Approaching the target area, it was hit by the German Flak and turned back to base with the bomb load intact. It crashed at 045LT after colliding with high tension cables near Fifefhead Magdalen. Four crew members were killed and two others were injured.

The airplane departed RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor at 0437LT on an operation to Brest. After takeoff, it encountered serious difficulties to gain height. The crew attempted to return to base when the airplane stalled and crashed eight minutes later in an open field located north of Howden, about 10 km southwest of RAF Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. Two crew members were killed and four others were injured.
