Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Chedburgh on an operation to Nuremberg. Homebound, it ran short of petrol and with two engines failing, the crew attempted to land at Stansted Airport. At the last moment it was realized the runway was obstructed and while trying to overshoot, the Stirling crashed into trees at Thremhall Priory, Bishop's Strotford, southwest of the airfield. All eight crew members escaped with various injuries.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Ridgewell at 1750LT on an operation to Wilhelmshaven. While returning to base in the late evening, after passing the Dutch coast, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the sea some 40 km north of Texel Island. All eight crew members were killed.

The airplane departed Exeter on a transit flight, having collected a Squadron crew. During takeoff, it swung violently and veered off runway. While taking action to avoid a collision with a parked Typhoon, the starboard oleo collapsed and the airplane slid to a stop and was damaged beyond repair. There were no casualties.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Chedburgh on February 17 to lay mines in the Gironde estuary. While returning to base, it ran low of fuel and was abandoned by the crew who parachuted to safety. Out of control, the airplane crashed 6 km north of Alton and was destroyed. The pilot was killed.
