Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Syerston at 1730LT on a gardening operation. While returning to base in the late evening, the crew encountered extremely poor visibility. While descending to Exeter Airport, the pilot misjudged the approach when the airplane crashed in Honiton, some 17 km northeast of Exeter Airfield. All seven crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Dishforth at 1733LT on an operation to Hamburg. Over Germany, it was badly shot about by the German Flak and the crew decided to return to base. Two crew members bailed out over Germany and became PoW. The crew eventually diverted to RAF Swanton Morley where the airplane crashed on a night approach and was destroyed. All four crew members were killed.

While returning to base the following night, it was low on fuel and the crew diverted to RAF Tangmere. On approach, the bomber collided with trees and crashed near the airfield. On approach from the south, the pilot failed to see that his altitude was insufficient when the airplane collided with trees and crashed in a wooded area located near the Cleddau River. All three crew members were rescued and the airplane was destroyed.
