Circumstances:
The aircraft left Montreal-Dorval Airport at 2359LT on December 29 on a mail and VIP flight to Prestwick on behalf of the Canadian Government Trans-Atlantic Air Service (CGTAS). At 0649LT, the Goose Bay Control Center received a mayday signal when the aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 23,000 feet some 600 miles east of Newfoundland. SAR mission was conducted but all operations were suspended after few days as no trace of the aircraft nor the five occupants was found.

The crew was completing a delivery flight from the US to England. On the leg from Montreal-Dorval to Goose Bay, the aircraft crashed in unknown circumstances on approach to Goose Bay Airport. The wreckage was found 12 miles from the airfield. All four crew members have been killed.

Circumstances:
The twin engine airplane departed Montreal-Dorval Airport on a flight to Goose Bay, carrying 14 passengers and two pilots, both civilians (one American pilot and one Canadian copilot). Among the passengers were four civilians who were contractors travelling to Goose Bay to install equipment for the new airport. Shortly after takeoff, while climbing, the airplane suffered an engine failure. The crew lost control of the airplane that stalled and crashed 3 km east of Dorval Airport. The airplane was destroyed and all 16 occupants were killed.
