Heligoland Island

On touchdown at Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport, the airplane went out of control and came to rest upside down. The pilot was uninjured while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

Crashed in unknown circumstances on Helgoland Island. There were no casualties.

The airplane departed RAF Bourn at 1812LT on an operation to Hamburg. It was shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the North Sea west of Heligoland Island. All eight crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Wyton at 2255LT on May 29 on a mine laying operation off the Frisian Islands. Approaching the target area, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the sea off Heligoland Island. All eight crew members were killed.
