The airplane departed RAF East Wretham at 2320LT on May 27 on an operation to Essen. Approaching the target area, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed in Gelsenkirchen. Six crew members were killed while the pilot survived and became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF East Wretham at 1842LT on an operation to Hamburg. While returning to base in the late evening, the crew sent distress calls at 2311LT, 2320LT and 2344LT. The airplane crashed into the North Sea, some 28 km north of Dunkirk (at third transmission, position plotted at 51°14'N and 2°07'E). Lost without trace.

The airplane departed RAF East Wretham at 1730LT to lay mines in the Nectarines area. Approaching the target area, the compass was unserviceable so the crew decided to return to base. After jettisoning the mines safely near Chepstow, north of the Severn Estuary, the crew abandoned the airplane that crashed near the Bigsweir Bridge, west of Saint Briavels. All five crew members parachuted to safety.
