En route from Chichén Itzá to Cozumel, the crew encountered engine problems and was cleared to divert to Playa del Carmen for an emergency landing. On final, the aircraft lost height and crashed 3 km short of runway. Six passengers were killed while 13 other occupants were injured.

Just after liftoff, while in initial climb, one of the engine failed. The aircraft stalled and crashed in a swamp located past the runway end. All occupants escaped uninjured while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

En route from Acapulco to Cozumel, the pilot informed ATC about the malfunction of both engines and was cleared to divert to San Vicente Airfield, Chiapas. On approach, the twin engine airplane went out of control and crashed in flames. Both occupants were injured and the aircraft was destroyed by fire.

As the airplane failed to arrive at destination, SAR operations were conducted but eventually suspended few days later as no trace of the aircraft nor the four occupants was found. The wreckage was found on 2 December 1970 in the region of Cozumel.
