Rougham AFB (RAF Bury St Edmunds)

The airplane departed RAF Rougham (Bury St Edmunds) to attack power stations in IJmuiden. Approaching the target area, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed into the sea 3 km west of IJmuiden. A crew member was killed while five others were rescued and became PoW.

Following the collision, both airplanes went out of control and crashed in a field located in Bodegraven, west of Utrecht. Two crew survived in each aircraft while all eight other occupants were killed.

hit by debris following a midair collision between two USAAF Martin B-4 Marauder registered 41-17991 and 41-18080. Because the airplane was damaged, the pilot was forced to attempt an an emergency landing. The airplane crash landed in an open field located northeast of Bodegraven, near the hamlet of Meije. The airplane was damaged beyond repair and all six crew members were rescued and became PoW.

While on approach to base, five crew members bailed out then the airplane crashed. The pilot was killed while five other occupants parachuted to safety.
