Circumstances:
The airplane departed Fayetteville-Pope AFB to Providence, Rhode Island, with an intermediate stop at Hemsptead Plains-Mitchell Field, Long Island, NY. On board were four crew members and 15 paratroopers. En route to Rhode Island, the crew encountered poor weather conditions with fog. Due to low visibility, the crew lost his orientation and the airplane went off the prescribed flight route and drifted to the north. At an altitude of 2,200 feet, the airplane collided with trees and crashed in a wooded area located on the Garnett Peak, some 1,6 km east of Peru. All four crew members and 12 paratroopers were killed. Three others survived but were severely wounded.

The airplane departed Elmendorf AFB on a flight to Fort Randall AAF (Thornbrough AFB) in Cold Bay. In poor visibility, it impacted the slope of a mountain located about 40 km northeast of Cold Bay Airport. All 16 occupants were killed. Six sets of remains were recovered, but only five could be identified. The other ten occupants remain unaccounted for.

Circumstances:
The crew was performing a flight from Perth to Darwin with an intermediate stop in Broome. At night, the crew overflew Broome as he was unable to locate the airport. He continued to the northeast until the fuel tanks were empty. Due to a fuel exhaustion, the captain attempted an emergency landing in a field located 10 km southwest of Mungalalu-Truscott AFB, some 383 miles northeast of Broome. The airplane was damaged beyond repair and abandoned on site, and all six occupants were rescued few days later.
