The airplane departed Manston Airport at 1929LT on an anti-shipping operation. It was hit by the German Flak and crashed 19 miles off Dungeness. The pilot and his observer were seen getting out of the sinking airplane, but despite an extensive search, no trace of the crew was ever found.

The airplane departed RAF Bodney at 1257LT on an anti-shipping operation off Heligoland, Germany. It crashed for unknown reasons into the sea off Birchington-on-Sea, Kent. All three crew members were rescued.

The crew departed RAF Millom on a training flight to RAF Detling. En route, the twin engine aircraft went out of control, dove into the ground and crashed in a huge explosion. All four occupants were killed.

The famous pilot Amy Johnson was completing a ferry flight from Prestwick to Kidlington to deliver the airplane. She departed Prestwick Airport on January 4 but was forced to divert to RAF Squires Gate near Blackpool due to poor weather conditions. She spent a night at Squires Gate, then took off on January 5 on a flight which should take some 90 minutes. Four and a half hours later, lost above a solid cloud layer and probably out of fuel, she baled out over the Thames Estuary. Her parachute and falling aircraft were sighted by the ships in a convoy and a gallant attempt was made to save her by the captain of a Royal Navy escort ship who dived into the freezing water to rescue her. He died later from exposure. Tragically, this effort was to no avail and Amy was drowned. Her body was never recovered.

The airplane departed RAF Bodney in the evening of December 3 on an operation to Essen. While returning to base the following morning, it crashed in unknown circumstances in Waltahm, Kent. All three crew members were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Topcliffe at 1732LT on an operation to Torino. While returning to base, it ran out of fuel and ditched in The Channel off Dover. By an awful misfortune of chance, the dinghy only partially inflated and then drifted away. Meanwhile, a lifeboat had set out to search for survivors and this vessel came across the pilot, still alive, and took him to safety. Tragically, no other survivors could be found.

The airplane departed RAF Bodney at 1715LT on an operation to Hamburg. While returning in the evening, between 2200LT and 2300LT, it flew into trees and crashed near Longfield. All three crew members were seriously injured, two of them died the following day from injuries sustained.

The airplane departed RAF Mildenhall at 1805LT on October 21 on an operation to Eindhoven. It crash landed at 0030LT on Manston Aerodrome. Prior to the crash, the crew had had a narrow escape after colliding with a barrage balloon cable.

The airplane departed RAF Scampton on a mine laying mission. While returning to base at night, it crashed in unknown circumstances at Lenham. A crew was killed and three others were injured.
