Kent

The airplane departed RAF Honington at 1950LT on September 2 on a raid over Genova. The following morning, while returning to its base, it ran out of fuel and was ditched into the sea off Margate, Kent. All four crew members came ashore in their dinghy.

The airplane departed Limburg-Saint-Trond Airfield to attack RAF Debden. Approaching the British coast, it was shot down by the pilot of a Defiant and crashed on the Goodwin Sands at low tide. Three crew members were killed and a fourth became PoW.

The airplane departed Pontoise-Cormeilles-en-Vexin Airport to attack the RAF Kenley, Surrey. Approaching the target at low height, it was shot down by the pilot of a Hurricane and crashed into the sea off Dungeness. All five occupants were killed.

The airplane departed RAF Abingdon to bomb the Fiat Aero Engine plant in Torino, Italy. Badly shot up by a fighter attack over the target which left one engine out of action and severe damage to the starboard aileron. The captain succeeded in flying the crippled bomber across France but while trying to land on the beach near Dymchurch Redoubt on the Kent coast, the weakened aileron broke off and the aircraft plunged into the sea. Three crew managed to escape and the two pilots were killed.

The airplane departed Vitry-en-Artois to bomb the Eastchurch Airfield. While returning to its base, it was shot down by the pilot of a Hurricane and crashed at the Mudflats near Seasalter. Three crew members were killed and a fourth became PoW.

While flying over Ramsgate, the airplane was shot down by the pilot of a German fighter and caught fire. To avoid a crash in the city, the pilot continued over the sea when the airplane crashed off Ramsgate. All three crew members were killed.

The airplane was engaged in a maritime patrol flight out from RAF Detling. Shortly after takeoff, it stalled and crashed, bursting into flames. Four crew members were killed and a fifth was injured.
