The airplane departed RAF Upwood on a training exercise. While cruising at an altitude of 2,000 feet in clouds, the pilot-in-command lost control of the airplane that dove into the ground and crashed near RAF Shawbury. All three crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Upwood on a training operation consisting with practice landings and bombing training over The Wash. While diving towards the intended target, the starboard engine surged and the airplane crashed in the North Wooton Range, about 4 miles north of King's Lynn. A crew was killed and two others were injured.

The pilot departed RAF Upwood at 1304LT on a local solo training exercise. After takeoff, while climbing to a height of 300 feet, the left engine failed. The pilot elected to return for an emergency landing when the airplane crashed near the airbase four minutes after takeoff. The pilot was injured.
