Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Upwood on a training operation consisting with practice landings and bombing training over The Wash. While diving towards the intended target, the starboard engine surged and the airplane crashed in the North Wooton Range, about 4 miles north of King's Lynn. A crew was killed and two others were injured.

The pilot was engaged in a bombing practice mission. The airplane crash landed on marshes in North Wootton in the suburb of King's Lynn and was damaged beyond repair. Shortly before the crash, the airplane had hit the sea during the exercise. The pilot escaped uninjured.

The crew was able to evacuate the area and to return to England but the airplane eventually crash landed near King's Lynn. All five crew members survived, among them three were injured.
