The airplane departed RAF East Moor at 1852LT to lay mines in the Nectarines area. It was shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the sea off Blåvandshuk. All five crew members were killed.

For unknown reasons, the pilot was forced to attempt an emergency landing. The airplane crash landed 4 km north of Blåvandshuk, bursting into flames. All four crew members escaped uninjured and the airplane was destroyed by a post crash fire.
