Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Topcliffe at 2350LT on September 13 on an operation to Bremen. Over the target area, it was hit twice by the German Fla, damaging the fuel tanks. Finally, it was ditched into the North Sea some 5 km off Southwold. Five crew members were rescued two hours later while Sgt Donlin drowned.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Alconbury at 2330LT on June 25 on an operation to Bremen. The mission was abandoned after the crew encountered technical issues with the electrical system. Decision was made to return to base but the airplane crashed in Southwold after a third attempt to land, colliding with a pillbox, causing the rear turret to be torn off, mortally injuring its occupant, Sgt Young. The airplane was destroyed an all four other crew members were rescued.

The airplane departed RAF Scampton on an operation to Magdeburg. Due to a fuel exhaustion, the captain was forced to attempt an emergency landing. The airplane crash landed on a beach at Southwold and was damaged beyond repair. All four crew members evacuated safely.
