The airplane departed RAF Graveley at 2343LT on June 21 on an operation to Krefeld. Shot down by a German fighter and crashed into the North Sea some 65 km west of Castricum. All five crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Rougham (Bury St Edmunds) to attack power stations in IJmuiden. Approaching the target area, it was shot down by the German Flak and crashed into the sea 8 km west of Castricum. Five crew members were killed and the air gunner became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Scampton at 2147LT on May 16 and headed for the Möhne Dam and dropped its weapon, as briefed. Set course, as deputy leader, for the Eder Dam before heading for base. It was shot down by the German Flak while clearing the Dutch coast and crashed into the sea off Bakkum (Castricum). All seven crew members were killed.
