Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Stradishall at 2220LT on September 13 on an operation to Brest. While returning to base the following night, it crashed for unknown reasons near Wantage Hospital. All six crew members escaped uninjured.

Circumstances:
The pilot was in charge to transfer the airplane from RAF Castle Bromwich when an engine failed in flight. He attempted an emergency landing when the aircraft crash landed in Hanney Fields north of Wantage. The pilot was uninjured and the airplane was written off.

Engine failure in flight.
