Nottinghamshire

The airplane departed RAF Grimsby at 1832LT on March 4 on a mine laying operation. While returning to base the following night, the crew diverted to RAF Langar where the airplane crashed on approach and was destroyed. Six crew members were killed and one was injured.

The airplane departed RAF Langar at 1914LT on February 13 on an operation to Lorient. While returning to base the following night, it crashed upon landing for unknown reasons and was damaged beyond repair. The pilot was injured.

After landing at RAF Winthorpe, the airplane was unable to stop within the remaining distance. It overran, hit a house and crashed in a field. The air gunner, Sgt Hugh Herbert Lloyd, was killed while four other occupants were injured.

The airplane departed RAF Leconfield at 1704LT on an operation to Lorient. Over the target area, it was hit by the German Flak, causing a fuel leak. With a port engine feathered, the crew elected to return to base but was unable to maintain a safe altitude until the airplane struck trees and crashed in Sutton cum Lound. Four crew members were killed and one was injured.

Less than an hour into the flight, the crew encountered an unexpected situation and decided to divert to RAF Langar where the airplane crashed upon landing and was damaged beyond repair. All five crew members escaped with various injuries.

The airplane suffered an engine failure after takeoff from RAF Wigsley and crash landed, bursting into flames. There were no fatalities.

The airplane departed RAF Leeming at 1716LT on an operation to Lorient. Both starboard engines failed and on return, the airplane crashed upon landing at RAF Ossington and was destroyed. All seven crew members escaped uninjured.

The airplane departed RAF Syerston at 1635LT on January 17 on an operation to Berlin. It was hit by the German Flak and was able to return to base where the undercarriage collapsed upon landing. The airplane was damaged beyond repair and all seven crew members escaped unhurt.

While on a navigation exercise out from RAF Bramcote, the crew encountered an unexpected situation and decided to bail out. Out of control, the airplane crashed in Wilford, in the south suburb of Nottingham, and was destroyed. Five crew members parachuted to safety and one was killed.

The airplane departed RAF Syerston at 1716 on an operation to Munich. It returned to base early due to the failure of the intercom system. On final approach, the airplane was caught by severe downdraft and crashed short of runway. All seven crew members escaped uninjured.
