Steeple Morden AFB

The airplane departed RAF Steeple Morden at 2029LT on September 16 on an operation to Essen. Approaching the target area, it crashed in unknown circumstances in Dinslaken, killing all five crew members.

The airplane departed RAF Steeple Morden 0002LT on an operation to Bremen. While returning to base the following night, it was shot down by the German Flak and abandoned by the crew at an altitude of 5,000 feet. The airplane crashed in Nordermoor and was destroyed. All five crew members became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Steeple Morden at 2341LT on September 13 on an operation to Bremen. While returning to base the following night, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed near Ohrtermersch. All five crew members became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Steeple Morden at 2105LT on an operation to Düsseldorf. It crashed for unknown reasons in the stack yard at Herne Hill Farm, Chediston. Four crew members were killed and Sgt Renwick was critically injured. He died within a few hours from injuries sustained.

The airplane departed RAF Steeple Morden at 2240LT on May 30 on an operation to Cologne. Over the west coast of the Netherlands, the crew was forced to attempt an emergency landing for unknown reasons. The airplane crash landed south of Ouddorp and was wrecked. All five crew members became PoW.
