Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Sharjah on a flight to Karachi, carrying four crew members and one passenger. About 30 minutes into the flight, while cruising over the Gulf of Oman, the pilot noticed oil on the reduction gear casing of the port engine. This coupled with a visibility of only two miles made him decide to return to Sharjah. Seven minutes later, the propeller of the right engine detached. He made an emergency landing in a rocky land located in Rul Dhadnah, some 10 km southeast of Dibba Al Fujairah. The airplane was damaged beyond repair and the navigator was killed. All four other occupants were later rescued.
Crew:
Sgt G. Chadwick, pilot,
Sgt William H. Donnelly, navigator, †
Sgt G. A. Wharton, wireless operator,
Sgt W. J. Brown, wireless operator.
Passenger:

Probable cause:
Technical issues with the right engine and loss of the right propeller in flight.
