The airplane departed RAF Leconfield at 2325LT on June 22 on an operation to Mülheim. Approaching the target area, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed in Hamminkeln, 40 km northwest of Mülheim. Four crew members were killed and one became PoW.

The airplane departed RAF Topcliffe at 2305LT on June 16 on an operation to Essen. It was shot down by the German Flak within seconds of bombing and, subsequently, abandoned by the crew who parachuted to safety but became PoW. The airplane crashed in Hamminkeln and was destroyed.
