Circumstances:
The crew left RAF Scampton to take part to a combined exercice with the British submarine christened HMS Sirdar, on behalf of the 120th Squadron. While flying at low height and simulating an aerial attack, the pilot-in-command completed a steep turn when the airplane stalled and crashed into the sea about 11 miles off Berwick-upon-Tweed. Two pilots were rescued while 11 other occupants were killed.
Probable cause:
It is believed that the aircraft's speed was too low during the last turn, causing it to stall. Also, the distance between the aircraft and the water surface when the stall occurred was insufficient to expect a recovery.

Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Charterhall on a joined exercise with a second RAF Blenheim registered L6788. The purpose of the mission was to carry out camera gun astern attacks with the second airplane being the target. While completing the exercise at an altitude of 1,000 feet, L6788 overshot the target airplane and its starboard airscrew stuck the underside fuselage of L8613, causing the tail unit to tear away. Sgt Masters bailed out and landed in the sea and was reported missing believed drowned. Sgt Gracey was killed in the subsequent crashaft. The second airplane landed safely at RAF Charterhall.

The airplane departed Aalborg on a reconnaissance mission over Edinburgh. Approaching the British coast, the engines overheated and caught fire and the aircraft crashed in flames into the sea some 60 km east of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Two crew were killed and two others became PoW.

The float plane was shot down by the pilots of three RAF fighters and crashed into the North Sea some 45 km northeast of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Three crew members were rescued by the crew of HMS Juno while a fourth occupant was killed.
