The crew departed Wagga Wagga Airport (Forest Hill) on a navigational and strip landing exercise. A first stop was performed at Nowra Airport then the crew was supposed to continue to Mallacoota via Moruya before returning to base at Wagga Wagga. The airplane departed Nowra at 0801LT for Mallacoota. It was seen passing over Moruya at about 0830LT, flying at a height of about 50 feet in an easterly direction. It was due to arrive at Mallacoota at about 0900LT but failed to arrive at destination. It is believed that the airplane crashed into the Pacific Ocean somewhere between Moruya and Mallacoota.
