Abingdon AFB

The airplane departed RAF Abingdon at 2355LT on May 8 on a night training exercise. In the next early morning, it impacted the slope of Caerno Hill located near Llanidloes. The airplane was destroyed and all five crew members were killed.

Following a raid on Rennes, the crew made a stop at RAF Stoke Orchard before returning to RAF Abingdon. On final approach to RAF Abingdon, the airplane crashed near Wooton, north of the airfield. Three crew members were killed and a fourth was injured.

The crew was engaged in a local training exercise at RAF Abingdon. In unknown circumstances, the airplane crashed in a field located one mile south of the airbase. A crew suffered a broken leg.

The airplane departed RAF Harwell on a navigation exercise to RAF Abingdon. On approach, the left engine failed and the airplane crashed near the airbase. All six crew members were killed.

The crew was performing a training exercise out from RAF Abingdon. While cruising in limited visibility due to low clouds and mist, the twin engine aircraft impacted the slope of Mt Moel Sych (2,713 feet). A crew member was killed while all four other occupants were injured.

The airplane departed RAF Abingdon on a night training exercise. While cruising southeast of Oxford, it was shot down by a German JU.88 and crashed in Chiselhampton Hill, killing the entire crew.

The nose gear collapsed while taxiing at RAF Abingdon. There were no casualties and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

The crew was engaged in a training exercise out from RAF Abingdon. While passing over the city of Oxford, the airplane suffered an engine failure. It first hi the western bank of the River Cherwell the slid up Linton Road and eventually crashed on a cottage. All three crew members were killed as well as one people on the ground.

The airplane departed RAF Topcliffe at 1628LT on December 27 on an operation to Bordeaux. While returning to base the following night, the crew diverted to RAF Abingdon when the bomber crashed on a building that was used for instructional purposes. All five crew members were uninjured.
