Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Ludford Magna at 2237LT on July 8 on an operation to Cologne. While returning to base the following night and passing over France at an altitude of 18,000 - 19,000 feet, it was shot down by a German fighter and crashed in Marly-Gomont. Four crew members were killed, one evaded and two became PoW.
