Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Syerston at 2242LT on July 9 on an operation to Gelsenkirchen. It was hit by the German Flak while passing over Gronau, near the German-Dutch border, caught fire and crashed near Overdinkel. The pilot was killed while six other crew members became PoW.
