The pilot departed Belfast-Aldergrove on a local solo training flight. On final approach, the airplane stalled and crashed short of runway. The pilot was injured.

Circumstances:
The pilot departed Belfast-Aldergrove Airport on a local training sortie. While cruising northwest of Belfast at low altitude, the airplane impacted the slope of Mt Cloughcorr located near Waterfoot. The aircraft was destroyed and the pilot John Frederick Sutton of the 502th Squadron was killed.

The crew departed Belfast-Aldergrove Airport for a local training flight. While flying at low height, the pilot-in-command elected to avoid a tree when the aircraft stalled and crashed about 4 km north of the airfield. A crew member was killed and the second was injured.
