Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Feltwell on an operation to Mainz. It was severely damaged by the German Flak over Germany and the crew elected to return to base but was eventually forced to ditch the airplane into the North Sea. Five crew members were killed and the air gunner became PoW.
