Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Oakington at 1938LT on March 27 on an operation to Berlin. Over the target area, it was hit by the German Flak, which damaged the port outer engine. The following night, while returning to base at 0348LT, the Stirling swung off the runway and its undercarriage collapsed. All seven crew members escaped unhurt.
