Circumstances:
The twin engine airplane was completing a flight on behalf of the RAF Transport Command when it crashed in unknown circumstances into the sea some 24 km northwest of Desecheo Island, 56 km west of Borinquen, Puerto Rico. SAR operations were conducted but eventually suspended as no trace of the airplane nor the four occupants was found. The observer was a RAF officer while all three other crew members were civilians.
