Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Middleton Saint George at 2131LT on March 29 on an operation to Berlin. The crew encountered very severe icing conditions between 8,000 and 10,000 feet and after bomb were jettisoned, returned to base. The airplane overshot in gusting conditions and crashed while trying to go around again. All seven crew members escaped uninjured.
