Circumstances:
The airplane departed RAF Linton-on-Ouse at 1723LT on November 15 on an operation to Genoa. While returning to base the following night, it ran out of fuel. The crew abandoned the airplane that crashed near RAF Martlesham Heath and was destroyed. Six crew members were injured and the pilot was drowned after he fell into the River Debden.
