Circumstances:
The crew departed Walla Walla Airport on a training exercise. While conducting simulated engine failure, the crew lost control of the airplane that lost altitude and crashed in an uninhabited area located 48 km southwest of Moses Lake. All eight crew members were killed.

Probable cause:
A delayed corrective action by the flight crew during the simulated maneuver resulted in an excessive sideslip from which they could not recover, leading to a loss of altitude, an uncontrolled descent and a subsequent impact with the ground.
