Circumstances:
Following a bombing mission over Milan, Italy, the aircraft was returning to its base when the crew lost his orientation in bad weather conditions. Due to fuel exhaustion, the captain decided to ditch the aircraft in the Mersey, off Liverpool. As all five occupants were rescued, the aircraft sunk.
