While approaching Karachi Intl Airport runway 25L in good weather conditions, the crew informed ATC he was initiating a go-around procedure for unknown reasons. He was instructed by ATC to turn left heading 110° and to climb to an altitude of 3,000 feet. Less than four minutes later, the crew declared an emergency and apparently reported engine problems. In a nose-up position, the aircraft stalled and crashed in the district of Modern Colony, about 1,4 km southeast of runway 25L threshold, bursting into flames. Two passengers survived while 97 other occupants were killed. Several houses and vehicles were destroyed but there were no victims on the ground.
