On final approach to Charallave-Óscar Machado Zuloaga Airport in marginal weather conditions, the twin engine airplane crashed in unknown circumstances about 8 km from the runway threshold. The aircraft was destroyed and all nine occupants were killed.

Shortly after takeoff from runway 10 in Charallave-Óscar Machado Zuloaga Airport, while in initial climb, the aircraft banked to the right, lost altitude and eventually crashed in a huge explosion in a dense wooded area located down below the airfield. The aircraft was totally destroyed by impact forces and a post crash fire and both crew members were killed.

Circumstances:
The crew was performing a charter flight from Oranjestad (Aruba) to Charallave with an intermediate stop in Barcelona. During the night approach to runway 10, the captain decided to make a go around for undetermined reason. During the second attempt to land, the aircraft landed long and the touchdown appeared to be half way down the runway 10 which is 2,000 meters long. Unable to stop within the remaining distance, the aircraft overran, went down an embankment and came to rest. All eight occupants were evacuated safely while the aircraft was written off. The passengers were members of the pop band 'Los Cadillac's' with the Venezuelian singer and actor Arán de las Casas.

Shortly after takeoff from Ocumare del Tuy airport, the pilot encountered engine problem and tried to make an emergency landing in a city center's avenue. Prior to landing, the single engine aircraft hit telephone line and crashed on an autobus. The pilot ans 2 occupants of the bus were killed. The pilot was performing a cargo flight to Puerto Ayacucho.

During flight, the crew tried to make an emergency landing but the aircraft hit the ground and overturned. Both pilots were slightly injured while all passengers escaped without injury. A first landing attempt on runway 28 was abandoned. On the second attempt, the crew passed under cloud layer at 800 feet and was in front of the control tower. Captain made a sharp turn and the aircraft crashed in a wooded area. Both pilots were killed and the aircraft was destroyed.

The crew was completing a positioning flight from Caracas Intl Airport to Charallave-Óscar Machado Zuloaga. On descent, the crew was informed that the ILS glideslope for runway 10 was unserviceable so the captain decided to improvise an unapproved LOC/DME approach by night. The copilot was the pilot-in-command when, at an altitude of 2,500 feet on approach, the aircraft struck the slope of a mountain located 9,3 km from the airport. The aircraft disintegrated on impact and all four occupants were killed.
Probable cause:
Controlled flight into terrain following a wrong approach configuration that led the aircraft descending below the minimum safe altitude.
