En route from Vancouver to Pender Harbour, the pilot encountered engine problems and elected to ditch the aircraft about three miles off Sechelt. All three occupants were able to evacuate the cabin before the aircraft sank and was lost. All three occupants were rescued.

Circumstances:
The pilot, sole on board, departed Pasco-Tri-Cities Airport, Washington, on a flight to Las Vegas-Henderson Executive Airport. For unknown reasons, he decided to fly to Mesquite Municipal Airport located in the northeast part of Nevada state. After touchdown on runway 01/19, the airplane veered off runway to the left, lost its undercarriage and came to rest in flames. The pilot escaped uninjured while the aircraft was destroyed by a post crash fire. The pilot was later arrested on suspicion of flying while drunk.
