Circumstances:
The crew was returning to his base in England following a bombing mission over Berlin. While cruising along the Norwegian coast, an engine failed, forcing the crew to attempt an emergency landing some 22 miles west of Bergen. While the aircraft sunk and was lost, the six crew members were rescued six days later by the crew of a Dutch trawler.
