Circumstances:
The aircraft left Villeneuve-les-Vertus at the end of the day bound for Frankfurt on the 'Nickel' mission. While overflying east part of France, crew encountered severe icing conditions and an engine fired. Captain attempted to make an emergency landing. While the aircraft was damaged beyond repair, all five crewmen were unhurt.
