The pilot, employed by AirNow since May 2006, was flying the aircraft to the Bennington's homebase for maitenance. The aircraft left Binghamton airport at 0820LT and started its descent 20 minutes later. Two successiv approaches were aborted due to low visibility and during the third approach, the aircraft crashed on a mountainside near Pownal. The aircraft was destroyed and the pilot killed. At the time of the accident, visibility was low due to 5-7 oktas at 500 feet and 8 oktas at 1,300 feet. The pilot totalised approx. 3,000 flying hours. It is the fourth EMB-110 lost by AirNow in an accident since January 2005. |
