The crew left Cancun for a routine maritime patrol flight over the Gulf of Mexico. After 5 hours of flight, while approaching mexican coast, the crew informed ATC that an engine stopped. Few seconds later, the second engine stopped also. Pilots decided to ditch the aircraft 3,5 km off Progreso, 40 km north of Mérida. All occupants escaped uninjured but the aircraft sunk. |
