On takeoff from Simferopol-Svardeyskoye AFB, Ukraine, the left engine caught fire as a result of bird strike. Takeoff run was abandoned and the aircraft overran the runway, broke apart and burnt. 3 crew were injured while 25 other occupants (among them Admiral Vladimir Masorin from Russian Navy), escaped unhurt. |
